Milan Food Guide : Panzerotti, Gelato, Pizza and More

Italy is a country where I can’t help but fall in love with its cuisine. When you go to Italy, diets break down, healthy eating decisions are eaten like snacks in aperitivo… I have traveled to Milan 3 times. Although it does not have its own unique dishes unlike other cities in Italy, Milan is home to many spots where you can taste the best dishes of Italy. Here is the Milan food guide with my personal experiences.

aperitivo! 🙂

Panzerotti in Luini

Milano proudly presents… Luini is a family whose roots can be traced back to Puglia, Italy. The family got Puglia’s delicious panzerotti to Milan when they settled here. Panzerotti is a snack made with a variety of flavors in fried or baked dough. My favorite is mozzarella and tomato panzerotti. When the flavor of warm panzerotti dough, molten mozzarella and fresh Italian tomatoes is combined… It gives you the strength to endure the long lines in front of Luini. Panzerotti is always fresh and warm as it is prepared on top of order. On top of that, it’s only 2.5 euros! Don’t come back from Milan until you’ve had a panzerotti in Luini, which is very close to the Duomo square.

Gelato at Cioccolatitaliani

The smell of chocolate that surrounds you when you enter… This is a real chocolate paradise! I tried Happy Cone, one of the four kinds of ice cream proposed by CioccolatItaliani. Nutella milk cream, caramel and milk chocolate combined with the famous sauce cones were delicious… You can also decide the flavours yourself and create your own ice cream.

Savini at the Galleria Vittoria Del Emanuale, where you will surely fall off your way and Venchi, one of Italy’s most famous ice cream chains with multiple branches in the city are among the places where you shouldn’t return without tasting the ice cream.

Pizza at Da Michele

Welcome to little Naples in Milan! I went to Da Michele‘s first and only branch in Milan who make the most delicious pizzas in Naples and hosted a part of the movie ‘Eat Pray Love’. This restaurant’s concept was a little different from the one in Naples. Take away is possible here but it is more like a restaurant where you can sit for a long time and enjoy your meal. There are so many types of pizzas with prices higher than Naples’ Da Michele. I’d say it’s a great choice to catch up with Neapolitan pizza while you’re in Milan. If you’ve never been to Naples, make sure you land on your way to Michele to meet real pizza.

Coffee : Milan

No matter which Italian city’s food guide I’m writing, coffee will always be the final element. Because it’s impossible to drink bad coffee in Italy. 80 cent espresso from anywhere at the train station can leave an unforgettable taste on you.. When I went to Milan, my discovery was Caffe Naples which has branches in several parts of the city, and the result was, of course, spectacular. In Milano, on the contrary to other Italian cities, third wave coffee shops have started to show up and Italy’s first and only Starbucks has opened up with a rather majestic interior. But anyway, you should do as the Italians do, go into an espresso bar and get your coffee on your feet, say “ciao” because they know the best when it comes to coffee.

That’s all about Milan food guide, my personal eating and drinking discoveries. Usually I don’t find time to explore food spots in Milan as I tend lose myself while exploring the city itself. There are always some spots left in my mind. Next time, I can’t wait to taste the healthy desserts at Matcha Cafe, eat pizza at Dry and make aperitivo at Rita!
